Made entirely of 18 karat yellow gold and bearing few similarities to the original Santos (which itself was the company’s first wristwatch, made for and named after Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos Dumond), this old Cartier watch almost presents itself more as the watch equivalent of the Aldo Cipullo Love Bracelet. Both are dotted with distinctive screw heads that match the metal of which the timepiece is comprised. These can be found lining the edges of the Santos Ronde’s bracelet, as well as around the bezel. The weighty, solid gold case houses an ivory dial, with Arabic numerals for the date at three o’clock, and Roman numerals circling the face for the time.
